Dan Rather on Memogate: ‘No Question The Story Was True’

Former CBS Evening News Anchor Dan Rather, despite being fired as a result of the bogus story, continues to maintain that he got it right in September 2004 when he aired forged documents concerning George W. Bush’s record with the Air National Guard.

On CNN’s Piers Morgan Live Monday, Rather said, “No question the story was true” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Anderson Cooper Posts Worst Ratings in Over Two Years

With all the coverage of Nelson Mandela's death along with the harsh winter weather hitting many parts of the country, last Friday was a big news day.

Not for CNN's Anderson Cooper who had his worst ratings of the year bringing in only 255,000 total viewers.

Piers Morgan Blames Gun Advocate for 'Allowing' More Shooting Deaths After Newtown

CNN's Piers Morgan accused conservative Ben Shapiro of "allowing more and more [graves] to be dug" after last year's Newtown shooting, simply because Shapiro opposes an "assault weapons" ban. Morgan tweeted his gun control rant on Wednesday after the 911 calls of the Newtown shooting were released.

Shapiro has bested Morgan in two separate debates over gun laws, and called out Morgan for "standing on graves again." Morgan spat back, "While you demand your 'rights' to assault weapons, allowing more and more of them to be dug."

Variety: Megyn Kelly Mopping the Floor With Her Time-Slot 'Competition'; Hannity and Greta Also Outperform

Anyone doubting Roger Ailes' eye for talent needs to go somewhere else besides his shuffling of Fox News's weekday evening lineup, especially but not exclusively his decision to move Megyn Kelly into the 9 p.m. time slot.

Variety's Brian Steinberg reports that Kelly has put even more distance between Fox and its so-called competitors at CNN, MSNBC, and HLN, while Greta Van Susteren and Sean Hannity have both grown their respective time slots (HT Johnny Dollar's Place; bolds are mine):

Piers Morgan Gushes Over ‘The Perfect Barack Obama Who’s a Perfect Physical Specimen’

In the past six plus years, we’ve seen some astonishing gushing and fawning over the current White House resident.

But on CNN Monday, Piers Morgan just might have set a new record talking like a teenaged school girl about “the perfect Barack Obama who’s a perfect physical specimen” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Piers Morgan: 'I Remain Very Thankful I Wasn't Deported'

On Thursday, CNN's Piers Morgan graciously reached out to all of his American fans to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving.

Although he doesn't celebrate the event, he did say, "I remain very thankful that I wasn't deported":

Harvey Weinstein Says on CNN 'Obama's Not Embarrassing; the Country Is Embarrassing'

On Friday night's Piers Morgan Live, Obama donor Harvey Weinstein excused President Obama's insurance lie as a "mistake" and called America "embarrassing" for not having "health care" and "a gun law."

"[T]his is the only the country in the world where we don't have health care. Countries embarrass us around the world. And this is the only country in the world, we don't have a gun law. I watched you, you know, talk about that. You know, quite frankly it's embarrassing. Obama is not embarrassing. The country is embarrassing," Weinstein ranted on CNN. [Video below the break. 'Very, Very Angry' Piers Morgan Rips Obama's Lies; Calls ObamaCare Rollout 'Unmitigated Disaster'

Piers Morgan once said "a lot of things are just perfect about Barack Obama," but now the President is in the liberal CNN host's doghouse. According to Morgan's repeated comments on his Friday night show, the President's credibility had been completely shredded.

"I find it very difficult, this ObamaCare thing. When I see the repeated footage of him standing there saying, you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan, just telling it outright porky pie to the American public, I don't like it. It's not the Barack Obama that I expected," Morgan lamented. [Video below the break.]

Piers Morgan: 'More Americans Signed a Petition to Have Me Deported Than Enrolled for Obamacare'

Has Barack Obama lost Piers Morgan?

Consider this truly delicious tweet the CNN host sent out Wednesday evening saying, "Considerably more Americans signed a petition to have me deported, than enrolled for Obamacare. I'd start panicking, Mr President":

Piers Morgan Lets Lib Journalist Bully His Global Warming Opponent

On his Monday show, CNN's Piers Morgan let liberal journalist Mark Hertsgaard bully fellow guest Roy Spencer for being skeptical of how much human activity is to blame for global warming.

"I don't think that we should be talking to climate deniers about climate stories. That is journalistically irresponsible," Hertsgaard insisted of Spencer, a former NASA climate studies senior scientist. Spencer hadn't denied global warming; he was skeptical of how much of it was manmade. [Video below the break.]

Bill Maher to Piers Morgan: MSNBC 'Very Rarely Wrong,' CNN Lagging For 'Play(ing) It Down the Middle'

Bill Maher was a guest on Piers Morgan's CNN show on Tuesday night; the interview segment was replayed on Friday (thanks to NB's Noel Sheppard for that catch). Among other things, Maher confirmed that he is a member of the left's unreality-based community when he described MSNBC as "very rarely wrong" and Fox News's Bill O'Reilly as someone who "says something that is insanely off-base and not true" almost every night.

Maher also lamented what he sees as CNN's biggest problem: They're trying to "play it down the middle," and viewers don't want that.

Shock: Piers Morgan Slams Obama Promise on Health Care Coverage as ‘Just a Lie’

During Wednesday night's edition of CNN's Piers Morgan Live program, the liberal host and a conservative Republican congresswoman teamed up to put pressure on Democratic representative Frank Pallone to defend president Barack Obama's repeated promise that people could keep their own physician and insurance plan if they chose to be part of ObamaCare.

“When the president repeatedly stood up and told the American people, if you want to keep your doctor or your plan, you can do that, with no qualifications to it, none of this, ‘If it’s not quite good enough and it gets changed,’ but just boldly telling people, if you want to keep your doctor or your plan, you can,” Morgan said. “That was just a lie, wasn’t it? A complete and utter falsehood.”

Maher: Ted Cruz Has a Shot at Becoming President

Bill Maher on Tuesday made what people on both sides of the aisle will say is an extraordinary prediction coming from a Tea Party hater like him.

Appearing on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, Maher said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx.) has a shot at becoming president in 2016 and will be very difficult to beat in the Republican primaries (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Maher: Sure Obama Lied But He Had to or ObamaCare Might Not Have Passed

I’ve always said that it takes a lot of rationalizations to be a liberal these days.

Take for example HBO’s Bill Maher who told CNN’s Piers Morgan Tuesday that the President had to lie about people keeping their health insurance plans or else ObamaCare mightn’t have passed (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Sean Penn: Ted Cruz and Other Tea Partiers in Congress Need To Be Committed By Executive Order

Actor and activist Sean Penn said Monday that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx.) and other Tea Partiers in Congress need to be committed by executive order.

Such was said to a laughing Piers Morgan on the CNN program bearing his name (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Piers Morgan Links to Fake News Report to Mock Sarah Palin

Piers Morgan used a fake news site to mock Sarah Palin on Twitter on Thursday. He linked to the satirical news site The Daily Currant saying that Palin claimed Jesus celebrated Easter.

"And she's back!" Morgan gloated, with absolutely no mention that the article was fake. When critics told him the website was satire, Morgan answered that he knew it was. Yet he praised the notion that it was believable.

Piers Morgan Admits American Press ‘Quite Soft’ on President Obama

Piers Morgan, the liberal host of an eponymous hour-long weeknight program on the Cable News Network, said during an interview posted on on Tuesday that the American news media have been “probably quite soft and could have gone harder” when covering President Barack Obama.

But while promoting his new book -- “Shooting Straight: Guns, Gays, God and George Clooney” -- the former British tabloid editor still claimed that “the financial crisis was inherited by the president” from his Republican predecessor, former White House occupant George W. Bush.

Piers Morgan Openly Declares Support for ObamaCare

British import Piers Morgan showed himself to be a left-wing hack on Monday night when he openly stated his support for ObamaCare on his eponymous CNN program Piers Morgan Live. The host brought on White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and asked a couple of critical questions about the rollout of the health care law. However, it soon became apparent that Morgan’s criticism came from his desire to see the law succeed.

After one defensive answer from Carney, Morgan let the press secretary know that he was sympathetic to the president’s health care industry overhaul: “ I agree with you. You haven’t got to persuade me.” Morgan then explicitly declared himself an ObamaCare supporter: [See video below the break.]

Piers Morgan Asks If Dems Will 'Unleash' Cory Booker on 'Renegade' Ted Cruz

In an interview with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on his Thursday night show, CNN's Piers Morgan sounded just like a Democratic strategist.

Morgan told the Democrat that "you sound eminently reasonable" and accused Sen. Ted Cruz of being the problem in Washington. "[H]e thinks that getting the shutdown was good business for Ted Cruz, Incorporated. What are you going to do about this young renegade who doesn't really care about being reasonable?" Morgan asked Manchin. [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Alan Gottlieb Column: You Might Want to Brush Up on the Constitution, Piers Morgan

After yet another contentious debate with CNN’s bombastic anti-gun talk host Piers Morgan this Monday, he demonstrated to the entire nation during a subsequent interview on CBS that he doesn’t even know which constitutional amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms. This is yet another reason neither I nor anyone else can take him seriously about guns.

On CBS This Morning, Morgan stated, "I have no problem, in a country with so many guns in circulation, with a family exercising their First Amendment [sic] right to defend their families with a handgun at home."

Dershowitz: 'Very Strong Argument That What Ted Cruz Is Doing Is Deeply Unconstitutional'

UPDATE AT END OF POST: Mark Levin responds.

Ted Cruz's former law professor at Harvard had interesting words for the Texas Senator on CNN's Piers Morgan Live Tuesday.

After calling his former student "among the brightest" he's every had, Dershowitz said, "I think you can make a very strong argument that what Ted Cruz is doing is deeply unconstitutional."

Pathetic Piers Morgan Rolls Out the Red Carpet for DNC Chair

Does Piers Morgan even try to show integrity anymore? The CNN host goaded the chair of the DNC into bashing Republicans on his Monday night show and plugged her new book without asking her one tough question about her own party.

Morgan's first question to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) was this pathetic softball: "What is going on with the GOP right now?" Schultz laid into her political opponents. "They have the opportunity to do the right thing and not shut the government down and hold the economy hostage with the Affordable Care Act as ransom. And instead they went with the Tea Party," she ranted. [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Piers Morgan Stumbles Over Second Amendment; Hails 'Most Courageous' Bloomberg

Piers Morgan still can't basic details about the gun rights debate right, even after his protracted involvement in the controversy, as he revealed on Tuesday's CBS This Morning. Morgan incorrectly claimed that the First Amendment – not the Second Amendment – protected the right to keep and bear arms: "I have no problem...with a family exercising their First Amendment (sic) right to defend their families with a handgun at home."

The CNN host also praised New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg for his prominent vocal and monetary support of gun control, and took President Obama to task for his apparent lack of action on the issue: [MP3 audio available here; video below the jump]

Gun Supporter to Piers Morgan: ‘That’s Probably Why You Don’t Have As Many Viewers’

Another day, another epic battle between Piers Morgan and a gun rights advocate.

What made Monday’s skirmish on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live so delicious was Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb marvelously informing the host that his anti-gun campaign is probably responsible for his dismal ratings (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Piers Morgan Cheers 'Excellent Good News' of Fewer Gun Permits During Shutdown

CNN's Piers Morgan thinks it's "excellent" that less gun permits will be issued during the government shutdown.

"One of the only positives I've heard so far," Morgan told business anchor Christine Romans, "is that actually gun permits, new gun permits may be delayed as part of all this." He added that "without them realizing it, the Tea Partiers, may have literally shot themselves in the foot." [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Piers Morgan Wants 'Fascinating' Bill Clinton to Still Be President

CNN's Piers Morgan fawned over the Clinton family on his Wednesday night show and on Thursday morning's New Day. He lamented that Bill Clinton can't still be president.

In his interview at the Clinton Global Initative, Morgan boosted Bill with this glowing introduction: "There is no better person to explain what's going on in Washington and the world for that matter, but Bill Clinton. The former commander in chief is honest, blunt, and fascinating." [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Bill Clinton Tells Piers Morgan 'I Used to Worry That CNN Was Going to Lose Too Many Viewers'

Readers are strongly advised to remove all flammables, liquids, and sharp objects from their computer's proximity as the following is likely to cause an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

Former President Bill Clinton told Piers Morgan Wednesday, "I used to worry that CNN was going to lose too many viewers" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CNN Hammers 'Deluded' Ted Cruz; 'Kid Playing With Matches'

On Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, CNN lambasted Sen. Ted Cruz who led a 21-hour Senate floor speech against Obamacare.

During the speech by Cruz and other Republican senators, CNN hosts Piers Morgan and Chris Cuomo mocked Cruz as "deluded" and a "kid playing with matches." Chief congressional correspondent Dana Bash called it "by many people's account here a fool's errand." [Video below the break. Audio here.]

CNN's Reliable Sources Scolds Reporters for Linking AR-15 to DC Shootings, Ignores Piers Morgan

As NewsBusters reported several times last week, CNN's Piers Morgan refused to retract his repeated claim Monday that Aaron Alexis, the shooter at the Washington Navy Yard, used an AR-15 during the massacre.

On CNN's Reliable Sources Sunday, guest host David Folkenflik of NPR did a six-minute segment addressing the mistake several in the media made concerning this issue without once mentioning that the person probably most guilty of this error was Morgan (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Gruesome Opportunist Piers Morgan Promotes New Gun Control Book Just Two Days After Navy Yard Shooting

The announcement for Piers Morgan's new book, Shooting Straight: Guns, Gays, God, and George Clooney, states that the liberal host of a Cable News Network weeknight program “is one of the most talked-about, controversial figures in the media today.”

Even though Morgan has been engaged in a years-long crusade to implement extreme gun-control laws, neither he nor his publisher, Simon & Schuster, apparently had any qualms about pushing the book on Wednesday, only two days after the Navy Yard shooting that left 13 people dead.
