MSN Mocks Tim Tebow 'Awkwardly' Reading 'Green Eggs and Ham' for Charity

Noel Sheppard's picture

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow on Wednesday participated in Pizza Hut's BOOK IT! Reading Program to promote children's reading.

For some reason, the folks at MSN chose to mock the religious quarterback rather than praise his charitable efforts (video and commentary follow):

Watch Tim Tebow awkwardly read 'Green Eggs and Ham'

Tim Tebow isn't a great quarterback, but we do think he's a better quarterback than storytime reader. The Broncos' signal-caller manages to get all the way through "Green Eggs and Ham" in this YouTube clip, but we think most of us could do a better job with the Seuss classic.

Huh? Didn't these idiots know he was doing this for charity?

Apparently not.

Fortunately, not everyone in the media was so callous concerning Tebow's gesture. USA Today gave him a far more positive review Friday:

Tim Tebow has been oft-criticized for his delivery. But he doesn't seem to have any problem being on the money with Dr. Seuss. [...]

The reading by Tebow is of course excellent but our favorite remains Rev. Jesse Jackson's performance on Saturday Night Live.

Even the Tebow-hating Huffington Post gave two thumbs up in its report Wednesday:

In an interview with BOOK IT!, Tebow talks about why he selected Green Eggs And Ham -- a choice he made specifically, "Pretty much how I learned to read was with Green Eggs And Ham. There were a few others that I loved, but Green Eggs And Ham was definitely my favorite."

Tebow also talks about his early struggles with reading, "I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was a little boy and so finding ways to overcome that and finding ways to really enjoy reading and finding ways that I can process things -- because it has nothing to do with your intelligence, it just has to do with how you process things -- for me books like Green Eggs And Ham really helped me to overcome those obstacles."

As MSN is affiliated with the same cretins responsible for MSNBC, I guess what they've done here shouldn't be too surprising.

Without further ado:

Associate Editor’s note: As you are likely aware, since the financial collapse of 2008, charities and non-profit organizations have seen a sharp reduction in donations. Although the environment has improved, contributions are still nowhere near where they were prior to the recession. Unfortunately, the Media Research Center has not been immune. With this in mind, your support has become more important than ever. With a critical election approaching, the liberal media needs to be monitored 24/7. As we have been predicting for months, the press are willing to do anything to get their beloved politicians elected and/or reelected. As such, we need your help to fight this fight. Any contribution, even $10, is greatly appreciated. Please consider a tax-deductible gift to the Media Research Center to help us battle the liberal media. Thank you.

#1 Good everloving grief!

Good everloving grief!

They have to even make fun of his reading for charity?  He's really gotten under their skin!

I'll bet they wouldn't be criticizing him if he were reading "Heather Has Two Mommies."

#2 You're right, he can't

We already saw that all season with the haters on NESPN. Skip Bayless was the only voice of reason in a sea of hate.

#3 Thye'd have slobered all over

Thye'd have slobered all over themselves if the unreverend Al had read The Golden Compass. I remember Bill Donahue coming out several years ago about how anti-Christian that book was.

#5 "Bash Tebow We Much..."

..."and Much We Will Continue"

They wanted to get Charles Barkley but he hasn't masterd "Dick, Jane, and Sally" quite yet.

#6 Someday MSNBC will hire a

Someday MSNBC will hire a real adult and not these over grown adolescents. They would do well listening to themselves read their crap. Most of them can't be tolerated for more than a few minutes at a time before you have to change channels.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

#7 Tebow

Kind of reminded me of George Clooney reading his lines.

#8 "Cretins" doesn't even come close.

Now if only Tebow could be accused of date rape, dealing coke or DUI, they might treat him a little more favorably.

#9 This is the same LSM that has

This is the same LSM that has no issue with porn "stars" reading to kindergarden classes.

Liberals are greedy. -- Me

#10 Tim Tebow is awesome

He is one of the most real unselfish, humble people I have ever seen. You have to be full of hatred to not like this guy.

#11 Agreed

One can't help but admire a decent young man who is so firm in his faith and convictions that not even the MSM's vitriol can get to him. His is a terrific American story.

Regardless how long Tebow plays in the NFL, he will have made his mark on the league, and on us.

#12 Shawn

They see in him the person that they would like to be. I.E. They are jealous.

#13 Tim would feel good from any

Tim would feel good from any decent human being who came up to him and said "attaboy". And well he should.

Likewise, Tim should feel good about this characterization from MSN. It's when these idiots are the ones who compliment you...THAT'S when any decent human being should start worrying!

#14 As we Gators say, "Haters going to hate"

How utterly pathetic these people are, slamming his reading performance (he is dyslexic, I didn't know that).

Timmy is a great inspiration and motivator for not only kids, but adults as well. He's a role model, and he's well aware of that fact, and is extremely careful with his image, endorsements, friends, activities, etc. THAT's why he's so hated. He actually walks the walk.

Thanks for a Tebow post, NS. I was having football withdrawls.

#15 ⇒ Is that what they say, Blonde?

Are you sure they don't say "Go Gaytah!"

#16 I think what she says, CA

Is "one, two, thee, fo, fi....then doze Gatas don't take no jive".

That still cracks me up every time I see it. Frightening, but hilarious.

#17 One of my favorites, too!

And I thank you for first bringing this charming intellectual to my attention.

It is no wonder that even the mention of an African American being "articulate" is an affront to condescending liberals nation-wide.

When Joe Biden remarked that candidate Obama was "articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy", Sharpton only took issue with the "clean" part.  Neither Sharpton nor Obama seemed to have had a problem with Biden's statement that black kids are inferior to white kids.

#18 LOL, Mr Tebow certainly reads

LOL, Mr Tebow certainly reads better than Corrine Brown! Is there any thing he does that doesn't garner some sort of criticism?  I've not heard of one deed he's preformed that's not worthy of praise, yet the media seems to scorn everything about him.  I'm no Denver or Florida fan, but I don't see how you can't help but admire that young man.

#19 Tim overcame dyslexia. The MSN writer didn't overcome stupidity.

Depending on the subtype and particular severity of the diagnosis, dyslexia can be extraordinarily difficult to overcome. It takes a very talented reading instructor/specialist, tutor and integral parental work to treat the disorder. It is not something that I treat by reaching for my prescription pad (UNLESS there is a concomitant mental illness). After assessment, which can be difficult in a patient with poor underlying verbal communications ability and visual field dysfunction, I refer the case to a good reading specialist who then sets up regular treatment plans with the teachers, parents and tutors who work with the child. That he overcame his dyslexia should be a role model for children that they too can overcome it.

It speaks volumes that some worthless MSN hack would go after Tim Tebow (more than likely based on his religious convictions) in such a vicious manner. Tim was reading for a non-secular charity Book It!, sponsored by Pizza Hut. He was not delivering a religious message or working for any political group. What a subversive program--trying to encourage children to read--must be some kind of insidious right wing plot. MSN's contemptible waste of skin had his/her name removed from the article and the comments are definitely in Tim's favor, with the occasional exception of the usual liberal, shallow hyper-partisans that are so fatally obsessed with identity politics.

#20 Well, Doc, maybe

Well, Doc, maybe Mooooooooooooooochelle issued this particular fatwah, you know?? I mean................Pizza Hut??? Are they donatin'?? Are they contibutin'?(Obamaspeak)..............................and pizza isn't really a healthy food, is it?? Do you think that some pizza slices would be confiscated from these schoolkids lunces by the Incompetano Intruders while they are listening to Tebow 'struggle' with reading them a book???

#21 What do you mean pizza is not

What do you mean pizza is not healthy? You have a grain (bread), meat (pepperoni I like Italian sausage) dairy (cheese) vegetables (mater sauce, I like onions, green peppers mushrooms and olives) I would think in your case you'd have a fruit like pineapple. Throw in four beers and you have a 5 course meal

#22 I'm not disagreein',

I'm not disagreein', Rick..............but where's the arugula???

#23 Are youkidding, killa?

Have you "gone into Whole Foods lately and see what they charge for arugula?"

In order to synthetically manipulate the inflation numbers, the government allows for substitutions in the basket.

Kudzu is the new Arugula.

#24 I am sorry if I stereo typed

I am sorry if I stereo typed you. All Hawaiians don't eat pineapple. Argula? Never tried it but it looks like poke weed. Grandmaw used to make a poke salad.

Chomp Chomp

And let me guess, momma was a'workin' on the chain gang? ( a rigid, spiteful, straight-razor totin' woman?)

#26 Poke salad

Poke salad Annie..............was her momma 'a-workin', or 'woikin'??? Now that is a GREAT song!!! I used to do it many years ago, and thanks for reminding me of it!!

We can be very ludicrous here at NB.............which, of course, impresses the hell out of me!!!

#27 ⇒ Daddy was lazy and no 'count

Claimed he had a bad back.

#28 You speak troof,

You speak troof, Cool............but I cain't 'member who did this damn song..................Joe South?? Billy Jo Royal??? It was some good ol' boy, I know that much.

#29 ⇒ Tony Joe White

Good song.

Tis the season for  the REAL mardi gras

#31 Yeah, I KNEW it was somebody

Yeah, I KNEW it was somebody Joe something..................talk about stereotyping!!! Hey, I saw Billy Jo Royal live once - when I was going to college on the mainland - doing 'Down In the Boondocks', 'I Knew You When', and some other songs. I remember the Knickerbockers were also on the bill, and they ripped 'Lies' apart!!! And the McCoys were also on the bill - a bunch of damn kids my age!!! Rick Derringer, his brother, and a couple of other pimply faced teenagers - layin' down the law!!! I even think that Paul Revere and the Raiders were also on that show - Patriot uniforms and everything!!!

#33 Hey Rick, I'd rather be

Hey Rick, I'd rather be stereotyped than monotyped - it's twice as important!!! And............I like a good veggie pizza myself, and I don't give a rat's okole what Moooooooooochelle thinks. Plus, I don't have the slightest idea of what arugula is, and since the First Caboose loves it (along with steak and deep fried Snicker bars), then I have NO interest whatsoever in knowing anything more about it................unless I'm headin' on down to Louie-anna to see Poke Salad Annie and her dead grandma............

#34 We have a plant around here

We have a plant around here called a fiddlehead fern. They grow in the wild and are very nutrious. I know that Thunder Tighs is not about to go out and gather them from the sides of the road. I hope they never discover them or they will be like the price of argula. http://veganyumyum.com/2007/05/fiddlehead-ferns/

#35 ⇒ Don't sell her short

She did move one shovelful of dirt and a whole garden of lead-tainted vegetables sprung forth.

#36 Dyslexia

I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was in the 2nd grade. It gets very difficult to read because sometimes letters in words are reversed in your brain. I had to go to night classes for 4 years to help me train my brain to look at words as they appear. I still have a slight problem with it today but it is not nearly as bad as it was back when I was younger.

For MSM to mock Tebow is not only disgusting but proves they have no compassion for someone with a learning disability.

#37 When I was working at McGuire

When I was working at McGuire Nuclear station we had a shift manager on our shift that was dyslexic. I noticed the man always turned the paper over and sign it upside down.. I didn't know what it was until a saw a report on 60 minutes.

A well regulated militia being necessary to a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

#38 This is in direct contrast to

This is in direct contrast to what would be reported if Boy BlahBlah - the most BORING and TEDIOUS speaker in the anals of US political history (and that is NOT a typo!!!) - reading from a teleprompter in a schoolroom full of 4th grade kids.

And in terms of having class, morality, ethics, humility, dependablity, responsibility, good work habits, style, honesty, talent, and respectability, Boy Blunder - the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the people of this country in the history of the Republic - isn't qualified to shine Tebow's shoes, much less bring him coffee!!!

#39 "MS" = Microsoft = Bill Gates

Bill Gates and Microsoft must be so proud to have spawned so many indecent far-left haters.

#40 Charity

So it was a wooden reading. What is their point? I recall most readings being similarly wooden and broken when I was a kid. That being said, it wasn't terrible and I give him credit for giving his time to charity. As per usual, the media can't help but praise anything a democrat does, but has nothing but scorn for any action from a Christian or conservative.

The answer to 1984 is 1776.

#41 He can read, unlike the

He can read, unlike the buffoons MSN.

Non, je ne regrette rien. "You aren't angry because I might be a racist, you're angry because you know I'm right".

So what's the weird thing here? That an NFL football player can read a book?

#43 And he's not wearing a bit

And he's not wearing a bit hat on sideways, with about 40 pounds of bling hanging off of him, and wearing size XXXXXL shirts and pants???? And you can actually understand him when he's reading???

#44 Skip Bayless was the only

Skip Bayless was the only voice of reason in a sea of hate.

Bayless a voice of reason? You have GOT to be kidding. His man-crush on tebow is absolutely disgusting. Worse than chris matthews crush on obama.

#45 Charity?

We don't need no stinking charity. We pay taxes, say the liberals.

To more fully comprehend the Left, one must read “Leftism As Psychopathy” by John Ray, M.A., Ph.D. Caution, it might scare you a little bit.

#46 satan

AS YOU CAN SEE, EVIL IS EVERYWHERE IN THE LIB MEDIA !!

BDK

#47 Tim IS a role model

I guess you have to have 5 kids by 4 different women, use dope and get caught DUI to be a hero at MSN. Here we have a MAN that is not only good at his craft but has a moral anchor and doesn't mind showing it and the press,,,as usual,,,mocks him for his Character.
If this man were a doper, a woman beater or a child molester BUT can entertain then that would make him a person to look up to in the low life media,,,sadly.
Term limitation is the only thing that would save this country,,and the same would be true in the media,,,remove the dead wood and replace it with fresh minds.
